A shared forum for governing AI.

The first session of the Global Dialogue on AI Governance took place on 6–7 July 2026 at the Palexpo convention centre in Geneva. Established by the United Nations General Assembly, the Dialogue brings together governments, the private sector, academia and civil society to discuss international cooperation, exchange experience and support open, transparent and inclusive governance of artificial intelligence.

Karolina Kadzielewska attended the event as a representative of Fundacja PACT. Her presence placed our organisation in a conversation whose central question closely matches our mission: how to make technological progress strengthen human agency and serve people across different communities and institutions.

AI governance must include the people and communities who will live with its consequences—not only those who build the technology.

From international principles to practical responsibility.

The programme combined a high-level segment, thematic sessions and side events. It also included the presentation of a preliminary report by the Independent International Scientific Panel on Artificial Intelligence. This combination of policy, scientific evidence and diverse stakeholder experience is essential if global principles are to become decisions that work in practice.

For PACT, responsible AI governance means connecting international discussion with the realities of public institutions, education, work and social inclusion. It requires transparency, meaningful human oversight, protection from discrimination and the participation of people who are most exposed to the effects of automation.

Why this matters to PACT: participation in the Dialogue helps us follow the global direction of AI governance and bring a human-centred civil society perspective into the debate.

The dialogue continues.

No country or sector can address the opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence alone. The Geneva meeting was a step towards governance shaped by broad participation, shared knowledge and public responsibility. PACT will continue to connect that global conversation with practical action in Poland.
